My work providing 360-tours in partnership with Google gives me the opportunity to do some interesting photography to help companies market themselves. Imagery plays a huge role in getting people’s attention and making a positive impression. I have always liked doing panoramic imagery- it’s a unique and different approach with its own challenges.
I always love to go see the monuments while in DC. Something grand and dignified about them.
Labworks International builds climate-controlled rooms and facilities designed for very specific purposes- research, health care, and the like. This is a “clean room” on a newly-renovated floor at St Mike’s Hospital in downtown Toronto. It maintains a programmable temperature and humidity, filters the air of most everything that you can spell- and things you can’t- maintains a positive pressure and is sealed by two sets of doors, so that nothing creeps in by accident, not even a photographer. A visit to Switzerland and a cheese shoppe, enlightened me to the finer qualities of cheese. Upper Canada Cheese in Jordan Station, Ontario makes some of my favourites. I had the pleasure of photographing the process and the fun people who take such care to do it well.
Battlefield Rentals had me go to Newfoundland in the summer of 2015 to do Google Streetview tours of the interiors of their stores, and some general marketing imagery. Everyone was nice- it is Newfoundland after all- and made the job a pleasure.
These were photos done for a layout in Canadian Metalworking magazine. Every photographer needs a photo with flying sparks. I’m not sure why, but they do. I need to redo this and ensure more sparks ‘a flyin’- this looks a bit lame in hindsight. But shops like this are impressive. We do have some advanced manufacturing right here in Ontario, and I’m fortunate to be able to photograph a good number of them.

Battlefield runs a great company. Their people always answer their phones. How many times do you experience that?
You would be surprised at the remarkable industries we have right here in southern Ontario. It hasn’t all gone to China. Here they produce high-tech plastic-coated fabric material for automotive uses, healthcare, and much more. I am always grateful for the things I get to see and learn about as a photographer.
