It is not very often where you have a chance to photograph the same family twice in 16 years.   The kids have kids of their own, hair has gotten a bit lighter for some, but not for others- lucky for them.  It was Mum’s 90th, and everyone collected in the same spot as 16 years earlier, and the larger task at hand was to corral the 8 little ones, and convince them this was important.  I’m not sure we succeeded on that front, but the adults were patient with the little ones and with the photographer, and cooperated as much […]

An Eye on the Future

The University of Waterloo Optometry and Vision Science wanted a photo with a vision.  Something that looked to the future, was hopeful, exuded a quiet energy and optimism.  Something that represents their vision for the future.  This was a challenge, because it’s more about a concept than a specific subject, place and time.  But we put our heads together, and had a delightful young lady that could just exude a hopeful look on demand.

If you ate eggs recently, they probably came from Burnbrae Farms. They supply grocery stores, restaurant chains, and the food industry, yet they remain a family-owned company, run by down-to-earth people that have always been a pleasure to work with.

This couple are University of Guelph graduates, and are still very much involved with the institution.  They brought a great attitude and enthusiasm, and were fun to work with, and that makes all the difference in how a photo shoot is experienced from both sides of the camera. And in my experience, that just has to trickle down to the effectiveness and impact of a final image.  And red outfits always add something to the attention-getting qualities of an image.

Mary Jean McFall and Sons, and extended family.

Mary Jean is the current Liberal candidate for Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes, and former Chief of Staff for the Federal Minister of Agriculture.  Despite her success, her feet are firmly on the ground- perhaps it’s her agricultural background.  Her kids have their heads on straight, and this is the type of person I want to see in politics
